Verizon's newest Android beast with a sliding keyboard, the Droid 4, has had many possible release dates. It was first speculated to launch in December then January and now February 9. Considering Verizon's current promotion on it's predecessor, the Droid 3, ends February 6 it is likely that this rumor could be true. The 9th falls on a Thursday and everyone knows how much Verizon likes to launch phones on Thursday.
There is also some new information coming with this new release date dealing with the price. The price for the Droid 4 has been reportedly dropped to $199 on contract. Up until now nealy all 4G LTE phones have released above $200, but the Droid 4 is expected to buck that trend. This is very good as it might just indicate that Verizon is moving towards treating the 4G phones as mainstream, since they are looking to kill 3G completely next year. To acheive their goal they need to get everyone on LTE phones and making them cheaper is the first step.
